Can you permenantly lose your taste from burning your tongue?

I burned my tongue badly today when I sampled a piece of meat that had come off a frying pan about 2 seconds before. I’m not sure how hot a frying pan is when it’s on the 8 our of 10 temperature setting on the stovetop, but I’m assuming it’s hotter than a scalding cup of coffee. (Does anyone know how hot a frying pan actually is?)

Will I lose my sense of tatse from the burn? Can the damage be permenant?

Like most things the body will repair the wound.
